Overview

Today, if you want to build a decentralized app (dApp), you need two things:

Smart-contract describes the logic of how funds and tokens will interact, and the website gives an ability for everyone to use the smart-contract via simple interface. Users on mobile can easily make use of their mobile app wallet to access your website, too.

Some projects also make use of the custom backend scripts (running on their own servers), but it's not usually needed in DeFi, and sometimes discouraged.

Building a smart-contract is hard, but you can make use of existing templates (e.g. OpenZeppelin), and you can connect to existing smart-contracts (Uniswap). Even if you need custom logic, usually it's a time well-spent – you're venturing into the unknown territory of untested economies.

Problem

On the other hand, all the frontend work is pointless. It's repetitive, boring and doesn't give value except for allowing someone to use your smart-contract.

Frontend developers for decentralized apps are expensive and rare.

Even if you find someone as a freelancer, iterating product and adding/removing buttons requires communication with them, and a lot of time is spent in vain.
